everything you need to know
Whether this is your first backyard ultra or your tenth, preparation makes all the difference.
Here's what you need to know before stepping into The Yard.
location and course
Our 2027 series takes place in Blunham, Bedfordshire.
The route is designed to be predominantly flat and runnable, with exposed sections where weather conditions could add to the challenge.
The confirmed venue address, parking instructions, measured course and GPX information will be included in the event guide.
registration and arrival
All runners must check in before the start of the event.
Registration will open at 12pm, the race briefing and the exact start time will be after 4pm. Runners will receive a 60 minute warning before the race starts.
Please allow plenty of time to arrive, check in and prepare your basecamp setup.
the start of the yard
Every yard starts on the hour.
Warnings are given three, two and one minute before each start.
All active runners must be in the designated starting corral when the start signal sounds.
No late starts are permitted.
basecamp and crew
Between yards, runners return to the central bascamp.
This is your opportunity to eat, recover, change clothing and receive assistance from your crew.
Crews cannot accompany runners on the course or provide assistance during an active yard.
Each crew is allocated a 3mX3m pitch to set up their basecamp. All shelters must fit within the pitch area. Please refer to the event guide for the full basecamp rules.
night running
The Endless Yard has no predetermined finishing time.
If the race continues into darkness, active runners must carry suitable lighting and follow all nighttime safety instructions.
We recommend bringing spare batteries or a backup light, appropriate clothing and reflective or high-visibility items.
food and hydration
Runners should plan their nutrition and hydration for an event that may continue well beyond their anticipated finishing distance.
You remain responsible for ensuring that you have suitable food, drinks and personal supplies.
There will be a bar on site offering snacks and hot meals for all runners and crew. Local shops will be listed in the event guide.
withdrawing from the race
When you've completed your final yard, please tell race control that you're withdrawing.
This ensures your total is recorded correctly and allows us to account for every participant.
If you are aiming for a milestone medal, you must voluntarily stop at the required completed yard.
safety first
The event team may withdraw a runner who is unable to continue safely or is not following event rules.
Please inform the medical team of any concerns and follow the instructions of race officials.
Your safety, and the safety of everyone around you, comes first.
Registered runners will receive further information before race day, including:
