supporting women in racing
Women belong at The Endless Yard.
The Endless Yard is built around community, endurance and personal achievement. We want women to feel welcome, supported and celebrated, whether they are running their first backyard ultra or competing at the front of the field.
We recognise that some barriers to participation are created by the way events are designed and communicated. We are working to follow the SheRACES Race Guidelines and to build inclusive practice into every part of our events.
Representation and welcome
Our imagery and storytelling will include women of different ages, backgrounds, experiences and abilities, from leading competitors to runners tackling a personal milestone. Our event information will be practical, open and free of unnecessary intimidation.
Pregnancy and postpartum
Pregnancy and postpartum recovery should not cost someone their chance to race. Our Pregnancy and Postpartum Policy explains the proposed free deferral and refund options, separately from our ordinary entry transfer policy.
Toilets, changing and period products
We will plan appropriate, clearly identified toilets, a private changing option, period products and hygienic disposal at basecamp. We will confirm the facilities in the final event guide.
Breastfeeding and carers
Breastfeeding athletes are welcome. Contact us confidentially to discuss feeding or expressing space, seating, milk-storage needs and baby/carer access. We will balance practical support with the hourly start and no-on-course-aid rules.
Safety and respect
Discrimination, harassment, bullying and threatening behaviour are not accepted. Our Participant Safety and Anti-Harassment Policy explains what to do and how concerns are escalated, including during overnight racing.
Recognition and coverage
We will publish women's results alongside overall results, and highlight female performances in race reports and photographs. Where we offer equivalent category awards, they will be of equal value and prominence. The official backyard format still has one overall last-runner-standing winner.
Listening and improving
We will invite feedback after each event and review our inclusion arrangements at least annually. We welcome private feedback at any time at hello@theendlessyard.com.
